Oil study

I was rushed for time last night, setting up my oil paint at the last minute before the Krab Jab live model session, so this piece was painted using only three pigments; titanium white, burnt umber and blue-black.
Wrenching!

The orange of the burnt umber plays pretty well off the blue in the blue-black, what with being compliments and all.  Once again, notice that the burnt-umber tint painted directly onto the gessoed board (dangling hand) looks much brighter and stronger than the wet-into-lighter-wet of the face.

Also, safety helmets are challenging!  This probably means I should paint more of them.
